Pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone can be scary. Nobody likes feeling self-conscious or unsure of themselves. But venturing outside of your comfort zone is important, because this is the only place where growth can truly happen.
Doing a boudoir photoshoot is a fun and fulfilling way to step outside of what you know and learn something new about yourself. Many women are hesitant to try it though, and come up with reasons as to why it’s not for them. Let’s debunk some of those excuses we hear most often and look at why they shouldn’t stop you from having your own empowering boudoir experience!
The most common reason women feel like they can’t do boudoir is because they think they need to have their ideal figure first. The entire point of boudoir though is to embrace yourself exactly as you are and celebrate your unique beauty! Plus, your photographer will set the scene and help guide you during your shoot to accentuate all of your amazing features.
Does the idea of being naked in front of a camera freak you out? No problem—you don’t have to pose nude to do boudoir! Boudoir is supposed to get you in tune with your sensuality, whatever that may mean to you. Whatever makes you feel sexy is what you should wear for your session, whether that’s your favorite nightgown, partner’s t-shirt, lacy lingerie, a fancy ballgown, or nothing at all!
There’s nothing wrong with giving boudoir as a gift. But some women feel that doing it just for themselves isn’t a good enough reason. Well, we’re here to tell you that it is! Boudoir can be a special way to pamper yourself, take a break from your stressful life, commemorate a milestone (having a baby, birthday, reaching a fitness goal, etc.), or just to celebrate you!
Some women think it would be vain or trashy to put their boudoir photos on display, and therefore feel like it would be a waste of money. The truth is, images of you feeling and looking beautiful and confident are tasteful works of art. Showcasing your boudoir photos in your home will serve as a reminder of your strength, beauty, and power. Besides, your boudoir photos don’t have to be on display to be valuable to you. Having those tangible images of your strength and beauty can be a reminder just for you of how amazing you are when those bad self-esteem days come along. It’s okay to have pictures that are for your eyes only.
