Working from home; social distancing; self-isolation; shuttered businesses; right now, in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, this is our reality. It’s not ideal—and it can certainly be scary at times—but for now, it’s the best way to keep our loved ones safe and healthy.
Being cooped up at home with minimal social contact can really take a toll on your mental and physical health. That’s why it’s important, now more than ever, to make self-care a priority. While that may look a little different in the current climate, there are still plenty of ways to nurture your well-being!
Let’s be honest—quarantining is exhausting. So, even though it might sound like the last thing you want to do, staying active mentally and physically is essential to staying happy and healthy through all this chaos. Try learning a new skill, picking up a new hobby, eating a well-balanced diet, and working in some regular exercise.
It’s easy to hole up and isolate yourself when you’re, well, supposed to hole up and isolate yourself! But regular contact with friends and family will help stave off some of that inevitable quarantine loneliness and keep you busy in the process. A game night over video chat, virtual weekly book club, or even just a quick FaceTime date to catch up with your bestie can make a world of difference.
Relieve some of the stress that comes along with living in constant uncertainty with a little spa night or designated me-time for relaxation. Spend a few hours doing up your hair with a new color or style, trying some new makeup, and getting dressed up in a nice outfit to remind yourself you’re still human (anyone else rotating between two pairs of sweatpants?)!
If spas aren’t your thing, simply set aside a night to snuggle up in your PJs, pour yourself a glass of wine, indulge in your favorite meal, and binge your favorite show.
Above all, what we have to remember is that there is a light at the end of this tunnel, even if we can’t quite see it yet. Keep moving and planning as though the world will start moving again any day. One of the best ways you can do that is to support your local businesses by booking services now that you can enjoy in the future.
Whether it’s a gift card to your regular salon, credit for a personal training session at your gym, or a new experience to look forward to—like a boudoir photo session at The Pouting Room—every little bit helps you and your community.
In the meantime, do your best to stay positive and put your self-care needs first. We can’t wait to see all of you beautiful ladies back in our studio soon!
